Week Four- Blogging idea!

I've been trying to think about how to get started using my blog in my classroom and it has finally hit me. Every year I read Flat Stanely with my second graders. For those of you who aren't familiar, Flat Stanley is a story about a boy who becomes flat and gets to travel around the world. I have done different types of projects with the book before. Last year we sent our own flat stanely and letters to a second grade classroom in California. I would LOVE to create a Flat Stanely blog with another second grade class. We could take pictures of him around our school and describe our day. The could be uploaded to the blog and the other class could comment right away. http://www.flatstanley.com/ also offers so many ideas of how to make Flat Stanley digital!

Week Three- Schools on Pinterest?

Hello friends!
The WebTyco discussion this week about schools and social networking reminded me that someone in my school recently set up a pinterest account for our school. I currently use my own pinterest account to pin ideas for my classroom. I have been debating whether or not to use the school's account instead. I enjoy using my own account because it allows me to connect with my friends outside of work. It also allows me to pin things that aren't school related. However, I like the idea of a shared account because sometimes I find ideas that are above or below my grade level. The school account is a great place to share these ideas for other teachers in my school to see. I can see the pros and the cons. Any thoughts?

Week Two Reflection

I spent most of the weekend completing my weekly readings and setting up this blog. The blog itself was easier than I thought. I already had a Gmail account and it was easily linked to create a Blogger account. Setting up my RSS news feed was a bit more difficult. I figured out how to link to my other group members, Ashleigh and Doane. I also linked to the class blog. I just hope I have my setting so that they are able to link to mine. Anyway, I will continue to think about how I can use this blog in my second grade classroom!
